Simple Ways To Provide Good Customer Service As An Internet Marketer

When you go shopping, how do you judge your experience? By the customer service provided to you by the sales clerks of course! Many of your decisions about giving your business to various service providers, retail shops or places where you eat are probably determined by the level of customer service you get from them. Unfortunately, as important as customer service is, it’s something too many internet marketers leave out of the equation when they think about their business. Just because online transactions don’t involve direct personal contact doesn’t mean you can ignore the value of providing great customer service! Let’s look at some ways that internet marketers can improve their customer service skills.

The first step to take is to keep and accurate and up-to-date record of your clients. You will want some form of customer management software, whether you make your own database or buy it. Keep track of the first and last names of your clients and then make sure to use these when you send out communications. Your client will surely appreciate you more when you address them as “Dear Ms. Jones.” It is, after all, much more personable than “Hello”.

Run a giveaway for past customers. This will also remind people to contact you. This doesn’t mean you have to give every customer something for free. Make it into a contest. There’s nothing more fun that winning something. Offer one of your products for free to a random response chosen from those who answer a question you send out. You also choose what kind of question to ask. You could ask basic trivia, or look for business feedback. Get ready to get a lot of responses, no matter what question you ask. You might even get mail from people who are not on your list yet!

Everyone likes free things, so be sure to give out free offers to your customers occasionally. Make sure you communicate with the people on your list by sending out more than sales promos, it is helpful to send out newsletters or other items. You’ll risk the chance of having your emails deleted before they are even opened if you become known as someone who’s only after the sale. On the other hand, if you give them some incentive to read your emails (like a special promotion) they will be much happier to read them. Think about how much more popular you will be if you send out emails that describe the things other businesses are working on. This shows you care about your niche and not just your bottom line and offers your customers something for free, which is always well received.

Good customer service does not have to be hard. If you are doing it correctly, it should not take much repeated effort and it will become second nature. You can probably offer great customer service by spending five to ten minutes each day to make sure each of your clients get what they deserve. Especially when those few additional minutes each day could mean hundreds or thousands of dollars in sales for your business. Since it is really very easy to offer high quality customer service, why is it that you have not yet improved your efforts in this field? You will only benefit from it!
