What is blogging and why you should setup a blog at all? Blog is short for web log. So it is basically a way people write comments on the internet for others to read about. People use blogs to help others keep track of what is going in their lives. For instance years ago people would send out newsletters in different times of the year like around the holiday season.

But then they found out that they could promote products in their writing. And they started using them to promote their websites. So at first people used them for personal and social reasons but then they started using them for their online business.

But building a posting a blog is free. Affiliate products you may or may not know are products created by someone else, they are not your products. But you can earn a commission when you help sell the product. When you lead someone to the affiliate product website where they can read more about the product and they buy the product you earn money.

You can use your blog to do a product review about the affiliate product or you can simply talk about how the product has helped you and how it can help others. You put a link in your online post to the product you are promoting. People then click on the link and go to that page. Since you are signed up with that product owner as an affiliate you get a link with an identifying tag so the product owner knows that you sent the customer to his site.

This is a good alternative to building a website especially if you are new to this type of marketing on the internet. Building a website might be new to you and you want to focus on marketing not the technical part of building a website. And there are a lot of blog hosting companies you can sign up for free with and start building one right away.

They provide the template and also the different backgrounds and styles to choose from. Before you know it you will have a great looking professional appearing internet presence. You will not have the cost of a website or have to go through the trouble of building one.

Search engines love blogs because they have new content all the time. You will get high ranking because the search engines will see your latest postings on a regular basis.

If you do not have a blog start one as soon as you can. But even if you already have a website you can start one and use it with your website. When people go to your blog you can direct them to your website. Your blog will help you in your online business no matter what your business is.
